How to add a giveaway wheel to OBS

Start with a test round before announcing your giveaway. You need a SpinDeck account, an accessible stream chat and OBS Studio or Streamlabs Desktop.

  1. 01

    Create the round

Open your SpinDeck dashboard, choose New giveaway, name the prize and set the entry keyword. Choose 2 to 200 slots by default. Paste the channel or live video link for each platform you want to include.

  2. 02

    Copy the overlay link

Open the round's live control room and copy its overlay URL. Use the link starting with https://spindeck.gg/overlay/. The public viewer page starts with /g/; it includes page navigation and is intended for viewers opening a browser.

  3. 03

    Add an OBS Browser Source

In OBS Studio, select your scene. Under Sources, click +, then Browser. Give the source a name such as “SpinDeck giveaway,” paste the overlay URL, and set Width to 1920 and Height to 1080. In Streamlabs Desktop, use a Browser Source with the same URL and dimensions.

  4. 04

Position the overlay above your gameplay

Move the browser source above the gameplay source in your scene's source list. The canvas around the giveaway is transparent. Use the transform handles or the URL options below to fit the giveaway around your camera and game interface.

  5. 05

Start entries and check the reveal

Start the round and confirm that each chat shows connected in the control room. Type the exact keyword as a separate word in your platform chat to test an entry. With auto-spin enabled, the deck fills, a countdown starts and the winner is revealed. For a manual draw, use the control room's spin action.

OBS explains the Browser Source settings in its official Browser Source documentation.

02 / MAKE IT FIT

Customize your stream giveaway overlay

Add options to the end of your own overlay URL. Start the first option with ? and separate additional options with &.

03 / BRING YOUR CHAT

One OBS overlay for Twitch, YouTube and Kick

Connect one platform or combine all three in one round. Each platform account can take one slot; separate accounts can enter separately.

04 / BEFORE YOU GO LIVE

Fix a missing overlay or chat entry

The overlay is blank

Check that you pasted the round's overlay URL, that the source is visible and above your gameplay, and that the round exists. If you enabled hideidle=1, start entries or remove that option while testing. Refresh the Browser Source if it has lost its connection.

The overlay is too big or clipped

Set the source to 1920 × 1080 and reset its transform before positioning it again. Lower the scale setting, and check whether an OBS crop filter or scene transform is cutting off the cards.

A viewer typed the word but has no slot

Check chat status, the keyword, available slots, subscriber restrictions and the blocklist. Entries only count while the round is filling. A repeated message from an already accepted account does not add a second entry. YouTube may take several seconds to deliver a new batch.

The stream reveals the winner later

The overlay and public viewer page use server timing. Your broadcast can have an additional platform delay, so viewers may see the result earlier on the public page. Let viewers know before sharing both views.

OBS giveaway overlay questions

Is the OBS giveaway overlay free?

Yes. Creating a SpinDeck account, running rounds and using the overlay are free. Default limits are 3 live rounds, 20 drafts and 2 to 200 slots per round.

Does it work with Streamlabs Desktop?

Yes. Add the same SpinDeck overlay URL as a Browser Source in Streamlabs Desktop, using a width of 1920 and a height of 1080.

Do I need an OBS plugin or a green screen?

No. SpinDeck uses a Browser Source and a transparent canvas. There is no plugin to install and no chroma-key filter needed for the surrounding background.

Do viewers have to open the overlay to enter?

No. They type the entry keyword in the connected Twitch, YouTube or Kick chat. A SpinDeck account is only required for the host.

Are prize codes visible on the overlay?

The overlay shows the public prize name and winner, not the stored prize code or private claim link. The host verifies the winner and shares the claim link privately. Anyone with that link can reveal its code.
